Federal govt out to eliminate media, opposition: Saif
PESHAWAR: Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif on Thursday said that the federal government’s refusal to form a judicial commission to probe May 9 and November 26 protests was proof of its unconstitutional and illegitimate nature.
In a statement, Barrister Dr. Saif said that the federal government was introducing new laws to eliminate the judiciary, media, and opposition. “Parliament has been reduced to a rubber stamp, but the government will ultimately bury itself in the grave it has dug for the media,” he added.
Barrister Saif added that National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq should be ashamed of his undemocratic role. “The government’s escape from negotiations will force the opposition to take to the streets,” he said, adding Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was setting up a political front against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government by providing shelter to the incompetent governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Islamabad.
