Maryam launches first-ever minority card in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated Pakistan’s first-ever Chief Minister Minority Card at a ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Iqbal Complex on Wednesday.

The card, aimed at supporting minority communities, will initially benefit 50,000 families, with plans to extend it to 75,000 families.

“This is not a political statement; it is a commitment to the equal rights of all Pakistanis,” she said, urging an end to the term “minority” for non-Muslims.

Maryam Nawaz assured the safety and dignity of minority communities, citing the government’s initiatives to enhance their living conditions, including increased grants for religious festivals, improved infrastructure and the establishment of a Christian cemetery. Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora expressed gratitude, appreciating the government’s dedication to inclusivity.
