QUETTA: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan Moazzam Jah Ansari has said that for the first time in the history of Balochistan, 385 women have become part of the police department, which is a source of pride.

He expressed these thoughts while addressing the passing-out parade of the 101st Recruit Course, which included 1689 recruits, of whom 385 were female officers, at the Police Training College in Quetta.

On this occasion, provincial ministers Mir Zahoor Ahmed Baledi, Mir Sadiq Umrani, and Meena Majeed Baloch, Additional IG CTC Javed Ali Mehr, Additional IG and Commandant B.C. Agha Muhammad Yousuf, DIGs, AIGs, other police officers, and relatives of police martyrs attended the ceremony.

He said Balochistan Police has demonstrated its capabilities against anti-national elements and has made numerous sacrifices to curb terrorism and prevent kidnapping for ransom. The role and performance of the police department hold great significance in society.

He further stated that the police department is considered one of the most important sectors for the reform, progress, and elevation of any nation and society to ensure peace and security. He urged the recruits to respect human rights and the dignity of citizens during their duties, adopting a stance of protection and assistance to the public rather than exerting force. He said that they should pledge to safeguard people’s lives and property, their honour and dignity, and make sacrifices for public service and safety.

The IG further expressed his expectations from the new recruits, hoping they would join police stations and lines, where they would apply their strong strategies and resolve under their officers’ leadership to combat terrorists, kidnappers, and killers. The police force is the first hope for timely justice, and it is essential that the police perform their duties with discipline and professionalism.

Moazzam Jah Ansari, along with provincial ministers, paid tribute to the police martyrs at the Police Martyrs Memorial, offering prayers for their high ranks and saluting their services. He said the sacrifices of these martyrs would always be remembered, and they would be honoured for their contributions to maintaining peace. The police force, together with the public, is united in the fight against terrorism.

The IG congratulated the officers who secured positions during the training and encouraged them to work hard for further progress in their professional careers. He expressed confidence that this training would prove beneficial for the police department and that the recruits would become valuable assets to their institution with renewed enthusiasm. His prayers and best wishes were with them.
