ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on a contempt plea has issued notice to the Advocate General (AG) Islamabad and jail authorities for not permitting Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyers to enter Adiala jail, and sought reply from them till January 24.
The contempt of court case for not allowing PTI leader Naeem Haider Panjutha and other lawyers to enter the prison came up for hearing on Tuesday.
Ali Bokhari, the counsel for petitioner, appeared before Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan and took the plea that the problem of entry of lawyers into the prison still persisted despite court orders. He maintained jail authorities allow lawyers to enter the jail at their will. “We are lawyers. If permission is given one day then the entry is not allowed on other day. The trial is purposeless in the absence of the lawyers.” Later, the court issued notice to AG Islamabad and jail authorities and adjourned the hearing of the case till January 24.
