Shahryar Afridi accuses federal govt of political victimisation
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member National Assembly (MNA) Shehryar Afridi on Tuesday accused the federal government of subjecting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s leadership of political victimisation.
Speaking to the media after hearings at the Peshawar High Court, he expressed the hope that the PTI founder would soon be out of jail as he believed that Imran Khan was innocent.Afridi said, “The PTI founder will soon be acquitted as there is no evidence against him. The cases against him and other party members are acts of political revenge.”
He said that the cases against the PTI leaders were politically motivated, adding that such measures were causing investors to flee the country which damaged the country’s reputation at the international level.
He also raised concerns over the lack of protection for public figures, saying, “Even the dignity of mothers and sisters of parliamentarians is not safe. The entire world is watching Pakistan’s political instability with concern.” Afridi further criticized the sentencing of the PTI founder and his wife, terming the cases baseless.
