LAHORE: Islamabad United’s captain Shadab Khan, fresh from being named the Pakistan Super League’s Most Valuable Player and Best All-Rounder during the recent draft, has outlined his vision for both team success and player development in the upcoming season.

The all-rounder, who played a pivotal role in United’s impressive campaign last season, emphasised team achievement over individual accolades as he prepares for the new season. “Being named PSL’s MVP and Best All-Rounder during the draft was a huge honour,” Khan said. “But my focus isn’t on individual awards—it’s on helping the team win again.”

Khan’s connection with Islamabad United runs deep, attributing much of his success to the franchise’s player-centric approach. “I honestly am lucky that my career started at Islamabad United—a franchise that always looks out for its players. That’s why you see those three trophies here; it’s a team that prioritises excellence and care for its players.”

Drawing parallels with his own early career, Khan expressed commitment to nurturing new talent. “Saad reminds me of myself when I was younger,” he reflected. “While we can’t guarantee him game time, we can promise to look after him, guide him, and groom him into a future star.”

“Even if Saad moves to another team, we want to ensure he’s ready for the future. From personal experience, I can confidently say this is the best franchise for him.” Khan also hinted at personal improvements made during the off-season, suggesting fans might see new dimensions to his game. “I’ve worked on a few things in the off-season, and I hope you’ll see the results on the field.”
