£190m case: Cabinet meeting held after money was transferred, says Salman Akram Raja
PTI secretary general says case verdict will be challenged in couple of days
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has said 190 million pounds were transferred first while it did not go to anyone’s personal account. Also, the cabinet meeting was held later.
PTI’s Secretary General Salman Akram Raja clarified during the press conference that 171 million pounds went to the account of Registrar Supreme Court before the matter went to the cabinet, while 94 billion rupees were transferred by the Supreme Court to the federal and Sindh governments.
He said the fact was earlier some accounts of a business tycoon were frozen in the UK. He further said that purchases were made from Hassan Nawaz through an account. “A land worth Rs460 billion was given to the business tycoon in the centre of Karachi. The business tycoon had no criminal record in the UK, only money in his accounts. A deal was struck between the National Crime Agency and the business tycoon,” he said.
The PTI secretary general said that the valuable land in Malir was given to the business tycoon and his family for free. “The British government said in this case that this amount is doubtful,” he said and added that after the transaction, the British government said that the family should not stay in the UK and neither should their money. He said the Crime Agency UK said that the money would be given to the State of Pakistan. “Taking this one sentence, it was said that this money went to the Supreme Court instead of the treasury,” he said.
He said on November 6, 2019, the press release and the agreement were signed. The NCA UK asked to keep the deal confidential. The decision of November 6 was implemented on November 29. He said that before the cabinet meeting on December 3, 100 million pounds had been transferred to the account of the Supreme Court on November 29.
He said the State of Pakistan did not suffer a loss of 1 paisa, not even a paisa went anywhere else, the land was given to the trust in the agreement. Raja said that it was regularly written that this land was transferred to Zulfiqar Bukhari for Al-Qadir University Trust. He kept this land as a trust and when the trust was formed in 2020, the land was transferred. He said that this land remained in the trust and it was a public trust. A university was established which is functioning till date but now there is a conspiracy to close it, so how Imran Khan or Bushra Bibi could have benefited. Salman Akram Raja said that in a couple of days, 190 million pounds case verdict will be challenged. “We will contest on the basis of merit,” he said. He said that there is a conspiracy to close the Al-Qadir University. “But it is a trust like other universities.”
