LAHORE: In a thrilling day of racing at the Lahore Race Club, Qaswa Princess emerged as the queen of the turf, claiming the prestigious 1000 Guineas of Pakistan 2025 race on Sunday.
Displaying her class and superiority, Qaswa Princess stormed to a decisive victory, cementing her status as a top contender. With favourite Qaswa Princess galloping to the top, the day’s races were filled with excitement and surprises.
In a surprising turn of events in the first race, Twinkle claimed an upset win, with Drago finishing as expected in second place, and Baghi securing a surprising third. Even in the second race, Vartika delivered a surprise victory, followed by Zaman Sahib in second place, and the favourite Awan Di Shan finishing third.
Similarly in the third race, Kuwait Edition, a fluke winner, took first place, with the favourite Luckvir in second and Great One in third. The fourth race, which was the Anarkali Cup, saw Dilbar as the surprise winner, with the favourite Moni taking second place and Secret Lover finishing third.
In the main race of the day, the 1000 Guineas of Pakistan 2025, as anticipated, Qaswa Princess turned out to be the princess of the turf, triumphing over Golden Market, which finished in second place, while Sincere Approach secured a surprising third.
Dawn To Dusk lived up to the billing with a first-place finish in the sixth race. Dominus took second place, and Yesteryear surprised everyone by securing third. In the seventh race, Ladies Day Victoria Cup had Suicide Blonde splashed home to victory, followed by Marquises in second place and Tierney in third.
In the Ch Ahmad Saeed Memorial Cup, eighth race, the favourite Swift Retort, with a couple of lengths lead into the final furlong, claimed the cup. Brooklyn was the challenger in second place, with Desert Crown securing a surprising third. In the ninth and final race, Gold Finder was the surprise winner, with the favourite Winx in second and Gabriela moving to third place.
