Customs agents, transporters stage protest
LANDIKOTAL: Traders and customs agents on Friday held a protest at the Torkham border to press the authorities for acceptance of their demands.
Led by Mirajuddin Shinwari, chairman of the All Torkham Customs Clearing Agents Association, the protesters were holding black flags and banners inscribed with demands to relax border conditions for traders and transporters.
They demanded immediate action to resolve the ongoing issues faced by traders, customs agents and transporters. Speaking on the occasion, Mirajuddin Shinwari said the difficulties had increased due to unnecessary steps taken by border authorities.
Torkham Custom Agents Association president Mujeeb Khan Shinwari highlighted the severe challenges faced by the business community at the Torkham border. He called on the authorities to provide necessary facilities to exporters, importers and transporters to enhance bilateral trade.
