PESHAWAR: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday said an enemy country was behind those spreading violence in Pakistan in the name of Islam. He was addressing the passing out parade of 2,340 recruits of the Frontier Constabulary at the FC Training Centre, Shabqadar, in Charsadda district.
The minister said ensuring peace in the country was the prime responsibility of the FC and warned that elements involved in violence would be dealt with iron hands. The minister said that history of the FC was full of gallantry and expressed the hope that the passed out recruits would follow the footprints of their heroes and predecessors, and would foil nefarious designs of enemies of the country.
He said it was the prime responsibility of the force to play an effective and constructive role in bringing peace to specific areas of the country.Chaudhry Nisar said Islam is a religion of peace and harmony. “Some misguided people are using its name for violence and we have to frustrate the designs of the enemies of the country,” he said.
“Establishment of peace is our collective responsibility and we will not allow anyone to destabilise our country,” he said. The minister said elements involved in attacking schools, buses, funerals, mosques and other public places through bomb blasts and suicide attacks deserved no mercy and would be dealt with iron hands.
Chaudhry Nisar said that recent statement of the defence minister of a foreign country was sufficient proof to prove who was harbouring terrorism in the country. He said the statement was an eye opener for the entire world and the international community should take a serious notice of it.
“It has become clear for the entire world that who is behind these acts of terrorism in Pakistan, elements who do not want to see Pakistan prosper,” he said, adding that no one can defeat this nation who had a strong faith in Allah Almighty, and had a powerful army and unity in its ranks.
“The people, government and military are on one page in the war against terror and we will wipe out the terrorists, both internal and external, as we had successfully done in Swat,” he sad. “We will win this war Inshallah with support of masses,” he said.
Referring to the May 28 being observed as Youm-e-Takbeer with reference to the 1998 nuclear explosions, the minister said: “Today is a historic day in our country’s history as on this day we made our defence impregnable and nobody can dare to cast an evil eye on our country.”
He gave credit to the government for reduction in bomb and suicide blasts, and added that when they came to power, five to six blasts was a routine matter in the KP. He said peace was achieved due to the bold policies of the present elected government along with better performance of the intelligence agencies and sacrifices of security forces.
As result, he said, security environment has significantly improved in the country. He also held the sacrifices of the FC troops for protection of motherland in high regard. He said he was proud to see such smartly turned out parade of FC contingents. He asked the passed out recruits to utilise their training and skills during their professional life and work with dedication and professional zeal.
Nisar said political interference in recruitment process of the FC had been discouraged while promotions were being made strictly on merit. He said the government would enhance the capacity building and training of FC troops, and assured that all genuine problems of the force would be addressed on priority basis.Earlier, Commandant FC Liaquat Khan appraised the minister of the reforms, training and problems of the force, saying since 2006 to date, 341 FC troops, including its former commandant Sifwat Ghayoor, were martyred and 341 injured in the line of duty.
Earlier, Chaudhry Nisar inspected the smartly turned-out parade and took salute from the contingents.
