KARACHI: National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) spent over 24 million rupees on the training of national shooters last year.
According to the audit report of the association for the financial year 2023-24, the association’s training expenses stood at Rs 24,270,604 in 2024 against Rs 5,962,500 in 2023.
The association received Rs 400,000 as special grant from Pakistan Olympics Association for the training of athletes in 2024.
Also, the association received Rs 20,590,450 in 2024 and Rs 5,962,500 in 2023 in terms of IOC grant for athletes namely Gulfam Jospeh, Kishmala Talat, Anna Ibtisam, Rasam Gul, Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, and Usman Chand.
The association’s expenses for international participation stood at Rs 9,878,632 in 2024 against Rs 4,067,502 in 2023.
Similarly, domestic activity and international events’ expenses stood at Rs 9,878,632 in 2024 against Rs 4,067,502 in 2023.
The association had the balance of Rs 16,577,433 at the end of June 30,2024 against Rs 15,528,769 in 2023.
The audit report disclosed that the NRAP is yet to receive Rs 394,412 from Pakistan Army Rifle Association (PARA). It includes Rs 38,420 as previous payable balance to NRAP; Rs 17890 as meeting expenses during the ISSF World Cup in Korea in 2022; and cancellation charges of Rs 338,102 for the PARA participants in the said ISSF World Cup.
Meanwhile, the auditor mentioned that the NRAP provided certificates for the declaration of stocks, spares, and loose tools and denied the physical inspection for the said components.
“The management has explained that the items are lying at Navy Shooting Range in Karachi and it was not considered feasible to incur additional cost for physical verification.
“However, the management agrees to make appropriate arrangements for future audits. Subject to this observation and to the extent it may affect the financial results,” stated the auditor.
It is to be noted that the stocks contain air weapons, air pellets, ammunition, filter, 10m target machines, gauge box, etc. which are valued at Rs 1,041,310.
