Pakistan has the potential to increase its energy production manifolds through clean sources like solar, wind and hydro. Cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and many others need a constant supply of energy to operate, and these high demands have seen several countries ban or limit their use. Similarly, IT companies have migrated to cloud computing and need a high and consistent supply of electricity to setup data centres that deliver cloud services to the world.
Due to ever increasing demand these companies are also looking for new locations with cheap rent, IT workers and plentiful electricity. The government should use this opportunity to attract cryptocurrency, data centres and internet service providers to Pakistan. These companies will create new jobs and attract other companies that provide the required services and equipment to them to also set up new offices and manufacturing in Pakistan.
