GDA’s Moazzam Abbasi, son booked in terrorism case
Sohail Anwar Sial says they have CCTV footage in which Abbasi's son and his friends are seen firing at his house
SUKKUR: GDA leader and former MPA Moazzam Abbasi, his son and others were booked under 7ATA (Anti-Terrorism Act) for allegedly attempting to murder the son of former home minister Sohail Anwar Sial.
Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, in-charge of Sial House, in an FIR lodged against the GDA leader said that Waleed s/o Moazzam Abbasi, Abdul Majeed Magsi, Asad and others fired shots at the Sial House situated at Murad Wah Larkana and also asked about the whereabouts of Zaffar Anwar Sial, son of Sohail Anwar Sial allegedly to kill him on the orders of Moazam Abbasi.
The complainant further said that the accused later fled the scene on a double cabin vehicle after they failed to find Zaffar Anwar Sial.
He added that Darri Police, on his complaint, registered an FIR No. 3/2025 u/s 324, 337 H11, 147,148, 149 129, 109 PPC and 6/7ATA against Moazzam Abbasi, his son and others.
Meanwhile, PPP MPA Sohail Anwar Sial said that they have CCTV footage of the incident, in which the son of Moazzam Abbasi and his friends can be seen firing at his house.
He further said that Abbasi approached him to resolve the issue through talks, adding that however he demanded swift arrest of the accused involved in the firing incident. He further said that his party did not believe in political victimization of opponents.
On the other hand, GDA leader Moazzam Abbasi and JUIF Sindh Secretary General Maulana Rashid Mahmood Soomro accused the PPP’s Sindh government of politically victimising opponents by registering fake FIRs against them. They also warned the PPP-led government against disturbing peaceful atmosphere in Sindh.
Moreover, Rashid Mahmood Soomro said he was ready to surrender to police on behalf of Moazzam Abbasi and warned against province-wide protests if police arrested Moazzam Abbasi in a fake case.
Sindh United Party leader Syed Zain Shah said that terrorism case against Moazzam Abbasi was the worst example of political victimisation and strongly condemned the FIR registered against GDA leader Moazzam Ali Abbasi, his son Waleed Abbasi and others under the Terrorism Act.
He said the worst example has been set by using state institutions against political opponents on the orders of the Sindh government.
Meanwhile, Waleed Khan Abbasi, son of GDA leader Moazzam Abbasi, and his friend Asad Tunio filed a pre-arrest bail application in the court of District and Sessions Judge Larkana.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge-I Rashid Dayo granted interim bail to both the accused against a surety of Rs50,000 each till January 13.
