Barriers to therapy
The perception of therapy has evolved significantly in recent years, though stigma persists in some communities. In the past, therapy was often seen as a weakness or a last resort, but public figures and social media have helped normalise conversations around mental health. Therapy is now recognised as a valuable tool for everyone, not just those with severe conditions, and modern options like online therapy have made it more accessible. However, cultural beliefs and financial barriers still prevent many from seeking help. As society continues to recognise mental health as equally important as physical health, it’s crucial to advocate for wider access to therapy and challenge outdated views so that seeking help becomes a normalised part of self-care.
