900 workers deputed for Ravi Town cleaning

LAHORE: Under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's Suthra Punjab initiative, a series of special cleaning operations is ongoing across nine towns of Lahore.

The LWMC teams are actively working to enhance the City's cleanliness, particularly in Ravi Town, where over 900 LWMC workers and more than 130 operational vehicles have been deployed to clear open plots and over 20 hotspot areas.

LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din stated that special cleaning teams have been stationed around key areas such as Bhatti Chowk, Azadi Flyover, Badami Bagh, Fort Road, Food Street, Badami Bagh, Lorry Adda and the vegetable market to provide enhanced cleaning services.

Additionally, cleaning efforts are ongoing in Azam Cloth Market, Moti Bazaar, Shah Alam Market, and Urdu Bazaar. CEO urged citizens to support the LWMC teams by keeping their surroundings clean and disposing of waste responsibly. Residents are encouraged to contact the LWMC helpline at 1139 or use social media for any cleanliness-related complaints.

Retired DSPs meet IG

A ceremony was held at the Central Police Office in honour of 16 retired DSPs. They met with IG Dr Usman Anwar, who thanked them for their valuable services to the police department.

The retired DSPs included Manzoor Ahmad, Khalid Qureshi, Nadeem Butt, Waqar Ul Haq, Javed Anwar, Javed Iqbal, Ghulam Abbas, Ghazanfar Abbas, Fayyaz Ihsan, Allah Nawaz, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Akbar, Masood Mazhar, Aqeel Abbas, Tahir Sikander, and Saeed Ahmad.

The IG directed the formation of an automated system to benefit from the experiences and services of retired police officers. He said that the pension and GP Fund issues of the retired DSPs should be resolved immediately. Dr Usman Anwar emphasised that the experiences and suggestions of retired officers should also be utilised to combat terrorism and extremism. The retired officers expressed their gratitude to the IG for the honour bestowed upon them by the department.
