Excess holidays

I think that we have an excess of holidays or days off in Pakistan. Seemingly every month, there are one or two provincial or national public holidays. Undoubtedly, rest-days are crucial as they bring comfort and relaxation for working people. However, too many off-days beget sluggishness and laxity as well.
In addition, people face numerous difficulties on account of holidays, since educational institutes and public hospitals remain closed. For instance, my cousin went to Larkana aiming to get certificates from the Larkana board on December 27 (the anniversary of Benazair Bhutto’s untimely death). Having reached there, he was informed that the board was off due to the holiday.
