Display of arms banned
LAKKI MARWAT: Ahead of the commencement of anti-polio drive, Deputy Commissioner, Bannu, Abdul Hameed Khan has banned the display of weapons for seven days in the district.
“A notification to this effect has been issued under Section 144 of CrPC,” said an official of the district administration on Sunday. He said that the restrictions had been imposed following a report received from the district police officer, emphasizing a ban on weapons display in the light of previous attacks on policemen escorting polio teams and the recent security threats.
He said that the terrorist attacks on polio workers and security personnel in previous polio eradication campaigns necessitated the imposition of restrictions on display of weapons, use of tinted glasses in vehicles and pillion riding.
