LAHORE : A case was registered against six police officials, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Hadiyara on Saturday following the escape of a drug dealer from police custody.

According to police sources, Hadiyara police registered the case on a complaint filed by Sub-Inspector Khalil Ahmed, who arrested drug peddler Naeem and recovered two kilogram narcotics from him. The FIR details that instead of securing the accused in a cell, SHO Hamas Hameed and the Muharrar allowed him to sit on a chair in a room from where the accused managed to escape in handcuffs.

Man dies after falling from roof of hotel

A man mysteriously fell to his death from the roof of a hotel in Mozang police area here on Saturday.

According to police reports, officers from the Mozang police station were patrolling near the hotel when they heard a loud noise, followed by the discovery of a man’s body on the ground. Upon inspection, the man was identified as Aun Haider, who was confirmed dead at the scene.

The police stated that Haider, known to have been ‘involved in prostitution’ and previously jailed on multiple occasions, was reportedly standing on the fifth floor of the hotel. Preliminary investigations suggest that he was leaning against a window when his foot slipped, leading to his fatal fall.

The body was transported to the morgue via an Edhi ambulance for a postmortem examination.
