136 properties sealed in operation against defaulters
LAHORE:LDA teams conducted a full-scale operation against illegal commercial buildings and commercial fee defaulters and sealed 136 properties here on Wednesday.
LDA teams conducted a grand operation on Jail Road and sealed two dozen showrooms for illegal commercial use. The teams also conducted operations in Gulberg, New Garden Town, Faisal Town, Sabzazar, OPF and Johar Town.
The properties sealed include showrooms, private schools, offices, restaurants, salons, grocery stores, bakeries, shops, and others. Several notices were given to these properties before the operation.
Later, in a meeting co-chaired by DG LDA Tahir Farooq and DC Lahore Syed Musa Raza, was attended by CEO MCL Shahid Kathia was also present. The meeting reviewed measures to improve the coordination of LDA and MCL and implement parking rules. The meeting also directed the officers that orders not to keep cattle inside the city should be implemented through a special campaign.
Implementation of parking rules was very important to improve traffic flow in the city, said DC Syed Musa Raza. He said LDA and MCL should ensure implementation of building control in their respective areas. He said implementation of Tepa SOPs should be ensured during construction of high-rise properties in LDA and MCL areas. A report on illegal commercial activities on various highways of the city was presented in the meeting.
Meanwhile, DG LDA Tahir Farooq visited the Tepa office. He presided over a meeting in which Chief Engineer Tepa Iqrar Hussain gave a briefing on departmental affairs and ongoing reforms.
In the meeting, DG LDA Tahir Farooq directed that Tepa Enforcement Wing, in collaboration with LDA Town Planning Wing, conduct a survey to implement parking laws. LDA DG Tahir Farooq directed Tepa to develop a mobile app for parking enforcement monitoring. DG LDA Tahir Farooq said that a digital app will be used to implement parking laws. DG directed amendments to the laws regarding fines and other measures for non-implementation of parking laws.
