Civil disobedience to start with call to expats to choke remittances: Aleema
PTI founder's sister claims that more people were "martyred" at Jinnah Avenue on November 26
ISLAMABAD: PTI founder chairman Imran Khan’s sibling Aleema Khan Friday said if their demands were not met by Friday, the overseas Pakistanis would be appealed to stop sending remittances to Pakistan and this would be the first phase of civil disobedience.
Talking to reporters outside the Adiala Jail after meeting her jailed brother, she said a small mafia was controlling and unleashing excesses and this could be gauged from the electricity bills in whose pockets these amounts were going and who owned these power generation companies.
“Certainly these belong to those, who are in the government. But when the hard time comes, these rulers, including Mohsin Naqvi, will flee abroad,” she charged.
Explaining Imran’s demands, she said that he called for formation of a joint investigation team under the senior most SC judges to investigate the May 9 and November 26 events and that the arrested political workers be freed.
Replying to another question, she said if the establishment offered talks, the PTI committee will talk to them.
Aleema against contested the figure of 12 deaths, claiming that more people had been ‘martyred’ on the Jinnah Avenue on November 26.
“Since they are lawyers, they go by the facts. So many people were martyred by the snipers but if the bodies are hidden, then facts will not be before the lawyers. But this does not mean it is an official figure of 12 deaths,” she said.
Aleema said she was on the Jinnah Avenue when people were being fired upon adding that during the late night operation, some 150-200 people went missing and their relatives were still visiting different jails and contacting the party as to their whereabouts.
“Do you think, these things will remain hidden? Not at all. I have been following all this and have information that so many people are still missing. And this is not politics but humanity about which I am taking,” she remarked while replying to a question.
