Body of newborn found in canal

LAHORE:Body of a newborn girl was found in a canal in Thokar Niaz Baig area here on Sunday. The decomposed body appeared to be two to three days old. Some passersby spotted the body in the canal and informed the police. It was suspected that an unidentified woman had thrown the body of her illegitimate child into the canal. The body was shifted to morgue.

Illicit weapons seized

In a major crackdown against illegal arms trafficking, the Punjab Police have seized a large haul of illicit weapons across the province during the current year. Punjab police recovered at least 1,581 Kalashnikovs, 39,818 pistols, 3,398 guns, 2,982 rifles and 744 revolvers from the accused. In the provincial capital, 127 Kalashnikovs, 8,543 pistols, 593 rifles, 323 guns and 100 revolvers and about 48 thousand bullets and hundreds of cartridges were recovered from the possession of the accused.
