LAHORE:The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore held the 207th meeting of its Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) on Thursday, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore.
The meeting reviewed the implementation status of decisions made in the previous session and approved the research thesis reports of postgraduate students.During the meeting, the board reviewed 42 thesis reports from students pursuing advanced degrees in various medical and health sciences fields, including PhD, MPhil, MS, MD, and MDS programmes. Among the candidates whose thesis reports were considered are Dr Huma Saeed Khan (PhD, Physiology), Madiha Shakoor (PhD, Human Genetics), Dr Rahat Sarfraz (PhD, Morbid Anatomy & Histopathology), Muhammad Farhan Khan (PhD, Forensic Sciences), Dr Saadia Liaqat (MPhil, Anatomy), Komal (MPhil, Biochemistry), Dr Sana Mehmood (MPhil, Immunology), Faiza Ilyas (MPhil, Immunology), Muhammad Javed (MPhil, Medical Laboratory Sciences - Histotechnology), Iqra Ijaz (MPhil, Medical Laboratory Sciences - Cytotechnology), Dr M Majid Rashid (MPhil, Microbiology), Dr Samah Fatima Qaisrani (MPhil, Anatomy), Dr Asiya Fazal (MPhil, Forensic Sciences), and Dr Hina Sikandar (MPhil, Physiology).
The MS candidates whose theses were reviewed include Dr Kanwal Awan (Anesthesia), Dr Muhammad Hanif (General Surgery), Dr Faizan Ud Din Sheikh (Neurosurgery), Shazia Taj (Nursing), Dr Mahwish Rubab and Dr Tehmina Hayat (Obstetrics & Gynecology), Dr Umair Khaliq and Dr Mariam Noor (Ophthalmology), Dr Yasir Sultan (Paediatric Surgery), Dr Asad Ali (Cardiology), Dr Bilal Shahid (Paediatric Medicine), Dr Syed Haider Abbas Shah (General Surgery), Dr Awais Rasheed, Dr Hina Samreen, and Dr Muhammad Umair Aslam (Anesthesia), Dr Hanan (Pediatric Surgery), Rifat Yasmeen and Rabia Khadim (Nursing).
The MD candidates included Dr Tayyaba Gull (Radiology), Dr Ayesha Shaukat and Dr Naeem Liaqat (MHPE), Dr Muhammad Ayaz Arshad (Cardiology), Dr Nimra Waqar, Dr Sana Anum, and Dr Zahid Waseem (Pediatrics), and Dr Farooq Nawaz (Pulmonology). MDS candidates included Dr Rabia Dastgeer (Operative Dentistry) and Dr Amna Naveed (Orthodontics).
In addition, the board reviewed research synopses for several students and approved a panel of local and international examiners for the assessment of Shabir Hussain’s PhD thesis in Biochemistry.
