ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s imports from Iran increased by 38 percent in the first quarter of the fiscal year, and by 37 percent on a year-on-year basis in September.
According to government sources, the volume of imports from Iran during the first quarter of this fiscal year from July to September was $308.5 million and in the same period last fiscal year, the volume was $223.1 million. Sources say that in September 2024, imports from Iran increased by 37 percent on an annual basis, after which the volume of imports from Iran in September was $99.6 million, while in September 2023, imports from Iran were $73 million.
According to government sources, Pakistan’s exports to Iran remained zero during the last three financial years and the main reason was the closure of banking channels due to US sanctions.
