IHC wraps up Panjutha’s recovery case
“Karachi-like situation prevails in Islamabad too,” says IHC CJ
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC), while ordering Kohsar Police SHO to make investigations into the recovery case of Intezar Panjutha, on Monday wrapped up the petition regarding the recovery of focal person of PTI’s founder Imran Khan.
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, while giving remarks during the hearing of Intezar Panjutha’s recovery case, said that law and order situation in Islamabad is worst and there is a need to do something. “Karachi-like situation prevails in Islamabad too,” he said.
“Extortion money chits have come to my own acquaintances. There should be freedom of expression in a civilised society. Why the missing persons’ incidents are taking place. If we take it as kidnapping for ransom even then such incidents should be curbed,” he said. The court directed the SHO to contact Intezar Panjutha in a day or two and record his statement. “You can go ahead in the proceedings as per law.”
The CJ added, “Such thing should not have taken place in a civilised society.” During the hearing of the case, Ali Bokhari, the advocate, told the court that a day ago, a call from the IG was received and he told that Panjutha has been recovered. “I took him from Kohsar police station and his condition was not good. I cannot tell what was that moment when I saw him. This incident can happen with anyone in future. We should take this matter seriously. Intezar Panjutha still is in Lahore.”
The CJ IHC remarked, “The mental and physical condition of the recovered lawyer is not as such. Police should investigate the matter fully after some days and cooperate.” The additional attorney general (AAG) told the court that the recovery has been made due to the efforts of attorney general (AG) but this thing is being taken in negative sense.
The IHC CJ remarked, “AG made efforts. He is a law officer, therefore no negative campaign should run against him. I saw about Intezar Panjutha on TV. These institutions are source of humiliation for all people. Missing persons and street crimes have gone up tremendously.” Later, the court wrapped up the petition regarding the recovery of Intezar Panjutha.
