Lawyers form new rights body in Chitral
CHITRAL: Lawyers launched a civil society organisation in the district for creating awareness among the masses regarding governance and elimination of corruption.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, president of the newly formed organisation “Public Bono Lawyers Forum” Amir Gulab Khan said that the people in the mountainous district were faced with numerous problems. They said that lawyers could play an active role in eliminating corruption, keeping check on governance and working with state institutions for resolving the problems of the masses.
Other office-bearers, including Muhammad Ajmal Khan, Abdul Wali Khan, Habibuddin and senior lawyers, Zafar Hayat, Alamzeb, Abdul Lateef, Ghulam Hazrat and others were also present on the occasion.
Amir Gulab said that besides creating awareness among the masses, the organisation would also fight the evil in society through legal means. He regretted that the funds for development were misused or misappropriated and the objective of the organisation was to keep a check on the utilisation of funds in the district.
