Imports from India increase despite trade suspension

Imports from India increased in August 2024 by 5pc on annual basis

ISLAMABAD: In the first seven months of Shehbaz Sharif government, imports from India have increased for the third time.

According to sources, despite suspension of trade, imports from India increased once again. The imports increased by 45 percent year-on-year in September 2024. In September, the volume of imports from India stood at $20.8 million, while in September 2023 imports were at $10.93 million. 

 Imports from India increased in August 2024 by 5pc on annual basis. Imports also increased in January, March 2024 and February, May 2023. Pakistan suspended trade with India in August 2019. Later, Islamabad allowed the trade of life-saving medicines.
