Environment improvement: Maryam interested in utilising Swedish experience
They discussed avenues for mutual relations in education, health, IT, agriculture, trade and environment
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed interest in benefiting from Swedish experience to improve environment.
“Swedish investors are welcome to invest in Punjab without fear of risk,” she said in her meeting with Swedish Ambassador to Pakistan Alexandra Berg von Linde. They discussed possible avenues for developing mutual relations in the field of education, health, IT, agriculture, trade and environment.
She added: “There is a special focus on agriculture and supporting the farmers. There is a favourable environment for investment in Punjab.” The Swedish ambassador appreciated the initiatives of Punjab government for protecting minorities and women’s rights. She said: “Recent initiatives of the Punjab government for investors are commendable. Swedish investors are willing to invest in Punjab.”
Honorary Consul General of Sweden Haider Ali and relevant officers were present. The Punjab chief minister congratulated the people of Turkiye on their Republic Day. She said: “I sincerely pray for the prosperity of Turkish people. We join their joy on this day. Relations between Pakistan and Turkiye are based on fraternity. Our relations are not just relations between two countries but between two great nations. Under the leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkiye has crossed many milestones of development. Cultural, commercial and tourism links between the two countries are bringing their people closer. May the relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye remain forever.”
Maryam also felicitated Rauf Atta and Ahsan Bhoon on winning the elections of the Supreme Court Bar Association. She expressed good wishes for the newly-elected SCBA office-bearers and hoped that the officer-bearers would continue to play their proactive role in the supremacy of Constitution and rule of law.
The CM condemned the murder of five security staff deployed to take care of a dam in Panjgur. She expressed sympathies for the bereaved families. She said attacking innocent labourers was the worst form of cowardice and “we will not give up our resolve to safeguard the country’s interests”.
