Changes in team inevitable, says Jalal
KARACHI: Former Pakistan cricketer Jalaluddin has said that those senior players who have not played well for a long time should be shown the door.
“Pakistan is losing continuously, so changes are inevitable,” said the former fast bowler. He said that PCB high officials should sit with national selection committee members, coaches and other team officials and decide the changes.
Chances should be given to those who have been doing well at domestic level, he said. He said that it is time the selectors dropped Saim Ayub, Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi and others who did not perform well.
He said that it is the ideal time to give chances to Kamran Ghulam, Mir Hamza, Muhammad Huraira, Noman Ali and a couple of others who are performing well in the domestic cricket. “Pakistan cricket standard has gone down to the lowest level. Neither skill wise nor physical fitness wise, Pakistani players come near the big teams, especially in Test cricket,” he said.
He was of the view that after scoring 556 runs on a batting wicket, Pakistan’s bowling and fielding and then batting in the 2nd innings in a haphazard way showed that players are mentally under pressure.
