KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Thursday ordered the transfer of four cases against former home minister Zulfiqar Mirza from the Anti-Terrorism Court Badin to the ATC Karachi.
The Anti-Terrorism Court’s presiding officer had sent the reference before Chief Justice of the SHC regarding the transfer of cases against Mirza pertaining to terrorism, attempt to murder, attack on a police station and forcibly shutting down shops in Badin. Mirza, however, obtained protective bail from the Sindh High Court till May 9.
The counsel of Mirza claimed that the police instead of registering a case against the police personnel registered four FIRs against the petitioner and his supporters under charges of attacking the police station, attempt to murder, threat and forcing businessmen to shut their shops in Badin. Meanwhile, Mirza’s counsel filed applications before the SHC seeking court injunction against the registration of further FIRs against Mirza without permission of the court.
He submitted that police wanted to arrest Mirza in fake cases and prayed the court to provide protection to the petitioner and restrain the police from arresting him without permission. He said that after obtaining protective bail from the SHC police registered three more cases against Mirza and sought details of pending cases against his client.
