ISLAMABAD: It has been revealed that the public sector Virtual University, which is run under the Ministry of IT, is getting a very small grant of only two percent from the Higher Education Commission.
According to documents, the university is getting the remaining 98 percent of its revenue from student fees, consultancy and other internal sources.
The university will generate a revenue of Rs6.75 billion from its resources during the current financial year, while it would get only Rs100.9 million from the HEC.
According to the documents, the total operational expenses of the university are Rs5.8 billion, of which Rs2.21 billion are the salaries of the university
staff, and Rs2 billion are spent on the expenses of the courses offered to the students. The development budget of the university is said to be around Rs1 billion.
