RAWALPINDI: Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz of the Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi Bench, while hearing a petition regarding the recovery of the Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail, Muhammad Akram, remarked that if Akram, after his recovery, declares he was in the custody of the Interior or Defence ministry, the court will take action.
During the hearing, petitioner Maimoona Riaz, her lawyer Iman Mazari, and representatives from Saddar Baruni Police Station appeared before the court. The Defence and Interior secretaries also submitted written statements, asserting that Muhammad Akram was not in their custody. In response, the court ordered both secretaries to submit affidavits confirming this.
The court was informed that Akram's family had been evicted from their government residence. The public prosecutor said that the eviction occurred following the transfer of the residence, but it was noted that the residence had been vacated two months after the transfer.
The court remarked that either Muhammad Akram should be returned or the family should be reinstated in the government residence. It warned that if the court's orders were not followed, the IGP would be summoned. The court expressed concern over the missing officer and the lack of information regarding his whereabouts. The hearing was adjourned until October 2 for further proceedings.
