ISLAMABAD: The federal government has prepared proposals to close down more government entities under the right-sizing measures.
According to sources, various proposals are being considered to reduce the size and expenditure of federal government. These proposals include closing, privatisation and merging institutions.
It has been proposed to close Karachi Tools Dies and Molds Centre and National Productivity Organisation of the Ministry of Industry and Production.
Proposals have also been prepared to close down the Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre and Technology Upgradation, and Skill Development Company. Privatisation or liquidation of Utility Stores Corporation is being worked out.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has tasked the Ministry of Industry and Production to close the National Fertilizer Corporation and National Fertilizer Marketing Limited.
The proposals will be presented to the prime minister. After approval, the federal cabinet will approve the plan.
The Right-sizing Committee, headed by the finance minister, has been working on reforms with the aim of decreasing the size of administrative structure.
