Protesters torch US flag

PESHAWAR: The activists of different religious groups staged a protest demonstration here on Friday to condemn the recent US drone attack in Balochistan that killed Afghan Taliban leader Mulla Akhtar Muhammad Mansour.

The protest was jointly organised by the Pakistan Rah-e-Haq Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Nazriyati, International Khatm-e-Nabuwat (SAW) Movement and Haq Students Federation.

The demonstration was led by former member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and leader of Pakistan Rah-e-Haq Party, Mohammad Ibrahim Qasmi.

The protesters burnt the US flag to express anger at the incident. They were holding banners and placards inscribed with anti-US statements. They were also chanting slogans against the US.

The speakers blasted the US and said it had always violated the geographical frontiers and sovereignty of Pakistan. They urged the government to stop tolerating the US aggression or else the people would come out to defend Pakistan’s borders.

They said the Balochistan attack was a blatant violation of the country’s sovereignty and had caused unrest among the people. They said the US has always hatched conspiracies to weaken Pakistan and promote its agenda in the country and the region.

The speakers said they won’t allow Pakistan to become a colony of the US. They demanded the government to take serious notice of the incident and cut-off diplomatic ties with the US.

Meanwhile, the members of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa offered funeral prayers in absentia for the late Taliban leader Mulla Akhtar Muhammad Mansour. They also offered Fateha for the departed soul.

Earlier, the members of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa staged protest at the Fawwara Chowk in Peshawar Saddar to condemn the killing of Mulla Mansour in the drone strike. They termed the US an aggressor and urged the nation to unite to face the US aggression against Pakistan
