Lawyer killed, four injured in Mansehra firing incident

MANSEHRA: A lawyer was killed and four other persons sustained injuries when two rival groups traded fire over a land dispute in Sherpur area here on Friday.

Police sources said that Iftikhar Khan Advocate, a member of the district bar association, and four other people sustained critical injuries when two rival groups exchanged fire over a piece of land.

The injured were shifted to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital where doctors pronounced Iftikhar Khan dead and the rest of the injured were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital Abbottabad.

Meanwhile, the district bar association on Friday evening announced the boycott of the court proceedings against the killing of its senior member.MPA Munir Hussain Lughmani and Shahjehan Khan Swati and other lawyers rushed to the Hospital after the incident.

Hafiz Naseem Khan Advocate, the president of the district bar association, in a statement announced to boycott the court proceedings today (Saturday)) against the killing of the lawyer.“The legal fraternity would observe a complete boycott of the court proceedings and want an immediate arrest of those involved in the murder of a lawyer,” he added.
