SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: One security officer was killed in an attack of terrorists on a police checkpost in South Waziristan on Sunday.
Some militants opened fire at the Sarogha security checkpost retaliating to which one officer embraced martyrdom. However, the attackers managed to flee the scene.Moreover, security officers initiated a search operation to nab the militants.
Meanwhile, at least four security personnel were injured when a security vehicle struck a landmine near Miranshah.Sources said that vehicles of the Pakistan Army were on routine patrolling in the militancy hit Spinwarm area of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) where military operation (Zarb-e-Azb) against the extremists was underway, when a single cabin vehicle hit a planted landmine on the roadside.
As a result of the explosion, the vehicle was damaged leaving four security personnel, including Shahzad, Naek Babar, soldiers Saifullah and Jamal Din, critically injured. The wounded personnel were shifted to the Combined MilitaryHospital (CMH) Bannu for treatment. The security forces cordoned off the area after the explosion and launched search operation in the area.
Meanwhile, police arrested key commander of banned outfit Javed alias Gudd during a raid in Peshawar.On a tip-off received regarding the presence of criminal element, police and law enforcement agencies conducted a raid and nabbed the suspect. The detained criminal was wanted in several criminal activities including an attack on security officers.Moreover, the arrested commander was shifted to some undisclosed place for interrogation.
