Drug smuggling bid foiled
LANDIKOTAL: The Landikotal police successfully foiled a drug smuggling attempt and arrested an Afghan national on Saturday.
Station House Officer Adnan Afridi stated that the operation was carried out under the directives of District Police Officer Rai Mazhar Iqbal, as part of intensified anti-drug operations in Landikotal and the Torkham border areas.
During the operation at the Torkham checkpoint, police searched for a suspect and recovered 1,150 drug tablets. The arrested individual, identified as Abdullah, from Afghanistan, was taken into custody.
In preliminary interrogation, Abdullah confessed to smuggling the drugs from Afghanistan into Pakistan. He further revealed that the tablets were intended for distribution across various parts of the country, including educational institutions.
The police said they have launched further investigations to dismantle the smuggling network and bring all those involved to justice.
