With the rise of mercury on Thursday citizens in the provincial metropolis stayed indoors and prayed for early rains.
The Met office said seasonal low pressure area lies over north Balochistan and its adjoining area with its trough extending eastwards. A westerly wave is still affecting Kashmir and its adjoining areas and likely to affect during next 48 hours. Maximum temperature recorded in the provincial capital was 39 C, the Met officials said.
The Met officials predicted very hot and dry weather in most parts of the country. However dust-raising winds are expected in Quetta, Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sh Benazirabad, Multan and Bahawalpur divisions. Rainfall was recorded at Bunji (03 mm), Skardu and Bagrote (02 mm) and Gilgit (01 mm) while highest maximum temperatures were recorded at Moenjodaro (48°C), Larkana, Sibbi and Dadu (47°C).
