ATC sentences SRA facilitator to 15-year jail term in two cases

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Counter-Terrorism Department has secured conviction of a terrorist in two cases as an anti-terrorism court sentenced him to

five-year imprisonment in one of the cases and 10-year imprisonment in the other along with imposition of a Rs100,000 fine each in both cases.

The CTD police of Hyderabad had arrested the convicted man, Arbab Bheel, on January 15 this year. He allegedly served as the vice president of the banned Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz Arisar and was a facilitator of the banned Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA).

He used to provide financial assistance and generated funds for the SRA within the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad Range and Mirpurkhas Range police.

He was arrested in an intelligence-based operation. The CTD found in his possession Rs50,000, receipt book of the SRA and unlicensed weapons.

He was booked in two cases pertaining to terror financing and illegal weapons.

On Saturday, the ATC 2 Hyderabad announced its verdict in the Central Jail Hyderabad and sentenced the man to five-year imprisonment in the terror financing case and 10-year imprisonment in the case registered under the Sindh Arms Act.
