PHC grants transit bail to GB’s ex-CM
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday granted transit bail to the former chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Khalid Khurshid till September 25 and asked him to appear in the relevant court.
A single bench of the PHC consisting of Justice Fahim Wali heard the petition while Alam Khan Adinzai appeared for the petitioner.The petitioner’s counsel informed the bench that there was a case registered against his client in GB and he wanted to appear in the court but he could not do so due to his possible arrest by the police.
He prayed the court to grant transit bail to the petitioner. The court accepted the plea against the two surety bonds and asked the petitioner to appear in the court till September 25. Also, another bench of the PHC comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Shahid Khan granted protective bail to the GB ex-CM Khalid Khurshid.
Counsel for the petitioner, Alam Khan Adinzai, informed the court that there were several cases registered against his client in Punjab and other provinces but the petitioner had no knowledge about them. He prayed the court to grant protective bail to the petitioner so he could appear in the relevant courts in all the cases against him. The court accepted and granted protective bail to the GB ex-CM.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters Khalid Khurshid, announced the launch of a student movement from September 8.Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, he stressed the importance of exposing those who had harmed the country’s interests. He warned the government to mend its ways.
