Electricity workers observe Demand Day
LAHORE : Electricity Workers observed Demand Day all over the country under the auspices of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union CBA by holding rallies across the country demanding the government review the proposed decision of privatisation of profitable electricity companies in the wider national interest.
In Lahore, they took out a rally in front of Lahore Press Club which was led by Khurshid Ahmad General Secretary of the Union. They demanded the government save the lives of the electricity workers who have to do double duties since no recruitment has been carried out for last seven years. Two lineman became victims of tragic death during the performance of their duties in last two days. They also demanded protection against lawlessness committed by electricity thieves and provision of safe working conditions.
