T20 World Cup 2024: Pakistan, India to clash in group stage
LAHORE: The ICC has announced the fixtures and groups for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, with Pakistan, India, and defending champions Australia drawn in the same group.
The tournament, initially planned for Bangladesh, has been relocated to the UAE due to political instability in the original host nation.
Group A features Australia, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, while Group B includes South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Scotland. Sri Lanka and Scotland secured their spots through the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament held earlier this year in Abu Dhabi.
Pakistan’s first match will be on October 3 against Sri Lanka, followed by a high-stakes encounter with India on October 6. The tournament will be played across two venues, Dubai and Sharjah, with the semi-finals scheduled for October 17 and 18, and the final set for October 20 in Dubai.
Australia, the six-time champions, will be aiming to defend their title.
Group A: Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka
Group B: South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Scotland
There will be 10 warm-up matches held prior to the tournament from 28 September through to 1 October.
