PTI, JUIF to cooperate in NA, Senate
A delegation of PTI led by party’s chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan met Maulana Fazalur Rehman
ISLAMABAD: The leadership of Maulana Fazalur Rehman-led Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday agreed in principle on enhanced cooperation in the National Assembly and the Senate.
A delegation of PTI led by party’s chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan met Maulana Fazalur Rehma in presence of other party leaders at his residence.
The PT delegation in the meeting also included Asad Qaisar, Shibli Faraz, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Rauf Hassan and Akunzada Hussain Yousufzai.
Maulana Fazalur Rehman in the meeting was assisted by Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Maulana Amjad Khan, Maulana Lutfur Rehman, Maulana Ziaur Rehman and Aslam Ghori.
Talking to newsmen after the meeting, PTI spokesman Rauf Hassan said that it was a meeting between leadership of two parties adding that negotiating teams of two sides would continue to meet and move forward in the National Assembly and the Senate with mutual consultation.
“It was our first meeting at the committee level and we will continue to meet in future to enhance cooperation,” he said.
Maulana Ziaur Rehman of JUIF said that the two sides have constituted committee to take care matters relating to legislation in two houses of the Parliament. “These committees will decide matters regarding legislative issue in the National Assembly and the Senate”, he said. A two-member committee comprising Senators Shibli Faraz and Kamran Murtaza will deal with legislative matters in the Senate. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri represent two parties in the National Assembly.
