Dr Shahid’s murder: Main suspect notorious criminal: police

LAHORE : Police have claimed that Sajjad, the father of Shehryar, who is currently in police custody, was responsible for the murder of Dr Shahid Siddique.

According to police sources, Sajjad is a notorious criminal who is wanted in connection with more than 100 car theft cases. The investigation revealed that Sajjad rented a vehicle under the name of his wife, Shahnaz, to facilitate the crime. Shahnaz’s nephew played a role in this by delivering the car to Sajjad. The motive for the murder is believed to be rooted in a deal between Qayyum Siddique, the son of the victim, and Shehryar. Qayyum allegedly agreed to pay Shehryar a sum of 2 crore (20 million) rupees to have his father killed. Following the murder, it is reported that Shehryar and his father Sajjad received an initial payment of Rs 16 lakh (1.6 million). Subsequently, Sajjad sought legal counsel, but the lawyer informed the police about the situation. However, before the authorities could apprehend him, Sajjad managed to escape. In the course of their investigation, the police have seized the vehicle used in the commission of the crime. Additionally, five individuals, including the victim's son Qayyum Siddique, have been detained as suspects in connection with the murder.
