LDA to remodel Thokar Niaz Baig junction
LAHORE:To improve the entrance and exit points of the provincial capital, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to redesign Thokar Niaz Baig junction.
In this regard, LDA Director General Tahir Farooq visited the Thokar Niaz Baig entrance point where LDA Chief Engineer Asrar Saeed and NESPAK officers gave him a briefing on the proposed design. Chief Engineer said that the LDA would start the repair and maintenance work of the main entrance point of the City in the next few days and the main entrance and exit of the City would be made beautiful and spacious.
He said that asphalt work, lane marking, beautification, signage would be done. Apart from the repair and maintenance of the road, widening and expansion of the footpath will also be done, he said, adding that there would be great convenience in the traffic flow to and from the Motorway and Multan Road. LDA DG directed to improve signage for the convenience of the citizens. Meanwhile, LDA DG Tahir Farooq visited LDA One Window Cell, reviewed the processing of applications received at One Window Cell in the last 24 hours and expressed displeasure on the officers concerned for the delay in processing of the sifted files. Tahir Farooq said that the delay in the processing of sifted files was not acceptable in any case and it should be ensured.
Later, DG called a meeting of all directors of housing to improve the working of One Window Cell. He clearly said that those who did not perform would not stay on the seat. He said that the directors of housing and town planning would be responsible for the pendency of their respective wings. The officers who do not solve the problems of the citizens will be called to account. Tahir Farooq said that the housing officers should go out in the field and improve their working. All the directors of housing should be present at one window cell at specific working hours, he directed and said the performance of all the directorates would be reviewed weekly. Make a plan of action to achieve the goals, there will be no compromise on performance, he maintained. In the meeting, all the directors were given tasks to improve the performance.
