Inquiry launched against medical technician after child’s death
MANSEHRA: District Health Officer Torghar, Dr Mohammad Jamil, on Wednesday initiated an inquiry against a medical technician accused by a family of causing the death of a two-year-old boy in the Darbandi area of the district.
“I have ordered an inquiry against the medical technician who allegedly performed surgery on a minor boy, leading to his death,” Dr Jamil told a group of locals who blocked a road in protest after the incident. The protesters blocked the Judbah-Darband road at Goya Bazaar to demand justice for the boy, who was the son of Mohammad Tayeb.
Assistant Commissioner Judbah, Hasrat Khan, and the DHO rushed to the scene after protesters blocked the artery and demanded punitive action against the medical technician, Mohammad Shafique. The protesters claimed that the family of the deceased boy had warned the medical technician not to conduct brain surgery on the child, as doctors in Karachi and Abbottabad had refused to perform the operation. However, he allegedly ignored their warnings.Dr Jamil assured the protesters that, according to medical protocol, a medical technician is never supposed to perform any surgery or operation.
