PCB to use Dukes, Kookaburra balls for domestic cricket
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in a significant move to lift the standard of domestic cricket, has announced the introduction of Dukes and Kookaburra balls for the upcoming season.
The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and President’s Trophy, the premier first-class competitions, will now feature the Dukes ball, renowned for its pronounced seam and swing, offering bowlers a greater advantage. On the other hand, the shorter formats, including One-Day and T20 matches, will be contested with the Kookaburra ball.
This decision follows extensive deliberations with ball manufacturers and aims to align domestic cricket with international standards. The PCB believes that the use of Dukes balls in red-ball cricket will enhance the skills of fast bowlers and create more challenging conditions for batsmen.
