Flour dealers oppose new taxes

PESHAWAR: All Pakistan Atta Dealers Association on Thursday announced support to the shutter-down strike of the All Pakistan Food Grain against new taxes.

All Pakistan Atta Dealers Association patron-in-chief and president food grain market, Rampura, Waheed Khan, general secretary Ahmad Faraz and other traders announced their support to the protest.

The traders closed their businesses on Thursday, saying that they would extend the protest to other parts of the province if the government did not show seriousness in addressing their reservations regarding taxation.

They said that the government had crossed all limits of injustice and the traders were forced to announce a shutter-down strike. The protesting traders said that trade unions would soon announce their future line of action against the policies regarding taxation. The government should have introduced taxation in consultation with traders, protesters said, adding that taxes were the backbone for running the country but the government had started extortion.They said that traders were not ready to pay extortion and that the government had brought changes in consultation with traders across the country.
