LAHORE: The Punjab government has started compiling monitoring and evaluation reports on a monthly basis to assess the performance of district administrations and police across the province.
Sources said chief minister Punjab has issued Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) regarding provision of better facilities to people, protection of their lives and property and law and order. Sources said that 23 KPIs were introduced for the district administration and 17 for the police and orders have been issued to ensure their implementation. Transfers and postings will be done after checking the performance of district administration and police officers through these KPIs.
Sources said that Chief Minister Inspection Team, Chief Minister Complaints Cell, Social Monitoring Unit and Crimes Monitoring Unit have been merged. All these units will now work under the newly created Chief Minister’s Directorate of Evaluation, Feedback, Inspection and Monitoring (DEFIM).
Sources said the social monitoring unit was being reactivated. The Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, headed by the chief minister, had many pending cases due to lack of time, which will now be taken up by the Directorate of Evaluation, Feedback, Inspection and Monitoring. The new head of the Chief Minister’s Directorate for Evaluation, Feedback, Inspection and Monitoring, Brigadier (R) Babar Alauddin, said that with the help of Punjab Information Technology Board, the efficiency of social monitoring unit has enhanced. He said that on the instructions of Maryam Nawaz, DEFAM will make sudden on-spot visits to every district and take feedback from the local assembly members and the media regarding bad reports and recommend the chief minister to take action. Brigadier (R) Babar Alauddin said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was giving utmost importance to crimes against women and children.
