Govt asked to solve people’s problems in Chitral
CHITRAL: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader and former member National Assembly (MNA) Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali on Thursday asked the government to resolve issues confronting the people.
Speaking at a press conference, JI leaders including Maulana Jamshed Ahmad, Hidayatullah, Maulana Israruddin and Maulana Rehmatullah Akhunzada said that people of Chitral were facing severe hardships after the last year’s flood and earthquake.
“How much people of other parts would suffer if dwellers in the district headquarters are deprived of basic facilities including clean drinking water and electricity,” he said, adding that the government failed to renovate the Rasheen Hydro Power project to provide electricity to more than 14 union councils of the lower Chitral. They said that due to non-construction of canals, devastated by the floods, the agricultural lands were now barren.
