Private schools reject PDA order to shift from Hayatabad
PESHAWAR: The Private Schools Association on Monday rejected the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) notices for shifting the schools out of the Hayatabad township.Speaking at a press conference, the association’s Hayatabad chapter president, Irfanud Din, said they were not ready to accept the notice of the PDA.
He said the association would start a province-wide protest against the decision.Irfanud Din said that 25,000 students were receiving education at the 40 private schools in Hayatabad. He added that around 1,000 people were employed at these schools.
He said that PDA had ordered shifting the schools without any justification, adding that these schools were providing education to children from Hayatabad.Speaking on the occasion, Aqeel Raziq said that these schools were registered with relevant authorities, adding that it was not PDA mandate to close or open schools. They warned of closing private schools across the province if the PDA tried to forcibly shift these schools from the township.
